About me
As Managing Partner of the Austin office of Michael Best & Friedrich LLP, I leverage my extensive experience and expertise in corporate law, public policy, and private equity to counsel clients on a range of complex matters that affect their growth prospects. With over 20 years of practice in transactions, governance, compliance, and litigation, I help clients navigate the legal and regulatory landscape in various sectors, including oil & gas, renewables, and commercial real estate.
Before joining Michael Best, I served as the 28th Land Commissioner for the State of Texas, where I led the largest housing recovery in state history, managed 13 million acres of state lands and natural resources, and generated record revenues for K-12 education. I also prioritized the needs and benefits of Texas' 1.8 million veterans and conserved the historic site of the Alamo. As a former Navy Intelligence Officer and a proud husband and father, I am passionate about serving my community, my state, and my country.
